The CPC33020 Certificate III in Bricklaying and Blocklaying is a vocational qualification designed to provide individuals with the skills and knowledge required to work as a bricklayer or blocklayer in the construction industry. Work placement, also known as work experience or practical placement, is typically a component of vocational education and training courses like this.
For the CPC33020 qualification, work placement is essential to provide students with hands-on experience in a real-world construction environment. During the work placement component of the course, students will have the opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge and practical skills they have learned in a supervised workplace setting.
The specifics of the work placement requirements can vary depending on the training provider and the jurisdiction, but generally, students will be required to complete a certain number of hours (usually specified by the training package) of work placement under the supervision of a qualified tradesperson.
The work placement may involve tasks such as:
- Assisting with bricklaying and blocklaying projects
- Mixing mortar
- Laying bricks and blocks
- Cutting and shaping bricks or blocks
- Reading and interpreting construction plans
- Following workplace health and safety procedures
The aim of the work placement is to give students practical experience and exposure to the realities of working in the bricklaying and blocklaying industry, helping them to develop their skills and confidence in a real-world setting.
It’s essential for students to actively engage with their work placement and take advantage of the learning opportunities it provides. Additionally, they should adhere to workplace policies and procedures, including health and safety guidelines, throughout their placement.
Students may also have the opportunity to gain valuable insights into the industry, make professional connections, and potentially secure employment opportunities through their work placement experience.
